Laura is passionate about providing child care services that support your child’s development and early education with high quality education and care. She is committed to ensuring that the child care provided at our Aspen Clyde North centre is the best early education support possible for all children in our centre.

“I have always had a strong passion for caring, nurturing, and educating children. I began my career at the age of 14 where I would work before and after high school each day and over school holidays. Being a part of a child’s learning journey was something that I always viewed as a privilege and truly valued, this has always been my belief and has been a driving force to provide the highest standard of quality care and education that I could. It inspired and motivated me to further my career to where I am now. Over my 26 years, I have progressed my way through every role within the service, the last 10 years of my career being in management roles. My focus now is mentoring and supporting my team to provide the best for every child and to develop a mutual respect and a shared love of learning. It is my belief that children need to be viewed and respected as individuals. Each brings with them unique and individual experiences and interests that contribute to shaping who they are as a person and who they will become. It is through these qualities that we are able to provide and shape curriculum to further support and develop children’s learning. My love of learning has only grown throughout my journey and has now extended to my own personal and professional development as I navigate my way through my teaching degree. With the endless support of my incredible family, I know I can achieve whatever I put my mind to. I have 3 incredible children, an amazing husband of 14 years, 2 cats, and 2 axolotls. Being a part of the growth and development of the Aspen service has truly been a blessing for which I am very grateful. I have been a part of the Aspen family since it opened in 2019. We have an incredible team and such beautiful families which makes it very easy to get up and come to work each and every day with a smile and a heart filled with joy.” – Laura Stephens, Story House Early Learning childcare Clyde North: Aspen Service Manager.

Real World Learning

At Story House Early Learning Aspen we see every child as a unique individual, a person that has their own disposition for learning and a person that will accomplish and achieve milestones through supportive and meaningful interactions with both their families as their first teacher and their educators. Our tight-knit community of experienced educators, children, and parents and families work together to support children to grow, explore, learn and play, fully supported and with their unique needs supported with quality care.

At Story House Early Learning childcare in Aspen, Clyde North, we believe that there is no one philosophy or teaching method that is suited to all children. Instead, we employ a combination of leading early education and child care philosophies such as Reggio Emilia, Montessori, and Steiner, which are all evidence-based early education approaches. Along with this, we encourage children to become independent learners that are able to make their own choices about how and what they learn.

Our play-based child care programs take a holistic view of every child, taking into account their sense of identity, how they view themselves within the local community, their sense of wellbeing, their disposition to learning and the way they are able to communicate. All programs are linked to the Early Years Learning Framework, the national quality frame work for early education and development.
