Early Learning Activities for Babies Water Play

A baby enjoying playing in the bath

IT'S PLAYTIME, LITTLE ONE !

Looking for ideas and activities to play with your baby while at home?

Much of your baby’s learning in their first year will happen naturally as you talk, read, make faces, and interact with them.

These fun and easy activities help stimulate your infant’s development — and bring on some adorable smiles and giggles.

BABIES AND WATER PLAY

Splish splash! You don’t have to save water play for bath time: Fill a small plastic tub with water and various squirty toys, plastic cups, kitchen ladles, and other items that you and your tot can use to make a splash. Non-toxic bubble bath adds another fascinating element to water play. Just remember never to leave your baby unattended near water, even for a moment.

Babies love water, and you won’t need to give them directions except to set out the water and get playful.

Add anything that seems interesting. Remember to never leave your baby unattended, even for a few moments.

Extension Activities

    • Add a few drops of scented extract, such as lemon or peppermint.
    • Add a few drops of food coloring.
    • Add a small amount of baby shampoo and work up some bubbles with your hands.
    • Pat the water with your hands so it splashes.
