Here at Story House Aberglasslyn, we are very lucky to have access to a large, open reserve which creates the ultimate background for nature play! From finding insects and viewing wildlife on our journeys to treasure hunts, muddy puddles and climbing to all heights of trees.
Our educators and children love any opportunity to get out in the bush to explore, investigate and build a connection to nature. We believe this is a practice that gives each child enriched time and space to follow their own interests and create their own play with the natural resources around them. Children continue to develop their sense of curiosity which also helps to foster their sense of wonder and desire to know how or why things work and builds their confidence and involvement as lifelong learners.
We hope to connect with our local council and collaborate with our community to bring more elements such as large wood stumps, hopefully a tyre swing and possibly a yarning circle to create a beautiful natural space for our children, educators, and local community to enjoy together and to maximise our service’s bush kindy program.
