Story House Early Learning is delighted to announce that its brand-new Toowoomba service, Oak on Erin, has a new Service Manager to take the helm as it prepares to open its freshly painted doors in early 2021.
Sarah Dewhurst isn’t new to the Story House family. In fact, Sarah has been with Story House since November 2018 managing our two other Toowoomba-based services (Oak on Jellicoe and Oak on South), collectively overseeing approximately 175 children and with that, a team of 50 capable educators. She is looking forward to establishing yet another high-quality service in the Toowoomba region and feels fortunate to be given time to assemble a quality team of educators, provide all the necessary training and continue to build and maintain positive relationships in her hometown of Toowoomba.
Sarah was raised in Toowoomba most of her life, so she understands and appreciates the unique needs of families using our childcare services. Her experience, passion and energy made her the perfect choice to help lead a new team and to make families feel confident that they have made the right choice in leaving their precious children in our care.
Sarah prides herself on creating that community feel, a second home for the children, families and educators that attend the existing Oak services. “We are family” she says about why her services are so amazing. Sarah and her team get to know the children and their families, support them in any way they can and create an element of fun. Sarah’s bright and cheerful persona is contagious and always makes an effort to help out in any way she can.
Sarah’s efforts in managing two outstanding services saw her win the 2019 Service Manager of the Year Award because of the way she exemplifies the Story House philosophy and values of Integrity, Connectedness, Respect, Safety, Growth and Innovation – all of which she’ll bring with her to Oak on Erin. She adopts a Maya Angelou approach and aims to leave people feeling good, to feel valued, to feel loved and to feel happy – even if it is with just a smile. Sarah knows that a smile can make all the difference!
Sarah moving to Erin Street has provided a coveted opportunity for an experienced early childhood Service Manager to lead the teams at Oak on Jellicoe and Oak on South, and we are very excited to welcome our two new Service Managers to the Story House family – stay tuned for this exciting announcement soon!
